Hon. Hugh C. Humphreys Memorial Fellowship – Summer 2026

The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York (LASMNY) is offering three paid summer fellowships for 1L and 2L law students committed to housing justice and tenants’ rights. Fellows will work full-time for 10 weeks (June 1 – August 7, 2026) in one of LASMNY’s offices in Utica, Binghamton, or Syracuse, NY, earning $10,000.

About the Fellowship:

This program honors Judge Hugh C. Humphreys’ legacy of service and dedication to justice. Fellows will collaborate with experienced attorneys to provide direct legal services, conduct research, draft pleadings, engage in community outreach, and support litigation to prevent eviction and housing discrimination.

Qualifications:

  • Current 1L or 2L at an accredited law school
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Commitment to public interest law and housing justice
