The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York (LASMNY) is a nonprofit law firm providing high-quality, free legal services to individuals and families across Central New York who cannot afford an attorney. Our team supports clients facing urgent civil legal issues with compassion, expertise, and respect.

We assist with a wide range of legal matters, including housing (evictions, foreclosures, utility shutoffs, unsafe conditions, and subsidized housing), family law (domestic violence, divorce, child and spousal support, and name changes), consumer issues (debt collection, repossessions, wage garnishments, and bankruptcy), disability benefits (SSI and SSDI applications, denials, and appeals), elder law (wills, powers of attorney, and health care proxies), and immigration (citizenship, VAWA self petitions, employment authorization, green card renewals, and T- and U-visas).
