LASMNY Releases 2025 Annual Report
Posted: May 7, 2026
The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York is pleased to present our 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year of resilience, transition, and ongoing service to Central and Northern New York.
In 2025, our staff closed 6,365 cases and assisted 12,584 individuals, including 4,738 children, across our 13-county service area. Housing was the most pressing need, representing 41% of our caseload. Our efforts helped 961 households avoid homelessness, including 389 families who remained in their rental homes and 43 homeowners who avoided foreclosure. We also supported 1,492 survivors of domestic violence, served 416 veterans, and prepared 923 estate planning documents for seniors and families.
The year also brought significant change. We said farewell to Executive Director Paul Lupia, who retired in October after more than forty years in civil legal aid, and to longtime paralegal Renee Kolwaite, whose thirty years of service shaped our pro bono programs. Their contributions will continue to guide our work.
Looking ahead, our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, developed with input from a comprehensive needs assessment by thredpartners, outlines eight priorities, including strengthening community partnerships, modernizing technology, and expanding outreach in rural and aging communities. As we welcome our fourth Executive Director in 74 years, we enter 2026 with a clear focus and renewed commitment to closing the justice gap.
The full report includes client stories, financial highlights, and a complete look at the year’s impact.
We invite you to support our mission. Our work is possible because of community support. By giving, volunteering, or partnering with us, you help ensure everyone in our region has access to essential legal services.
